Major Projects - Tung Chung New Town Extension Tung Chung New Town Extension Project Number: 7786CL Brief Description of Project Scope: The project is to further develop the Tung Chung New Town (TCNT) into a comprehensively planned new town with a larger population capacity and adequate local and regional community facilities. The project comprises mainly: Reclamation works for about 130 hectares (ha) of land including construction of associated seawall and eco-shoreline for the development of Tung Chung New Town Extension (TCNTE) at Tung Chung East and a primary distributor road (Road P1); Site formation works for about 7 ha of land for the development of TCNTE at Tung Chung West; Engineering infrastructure works including roads, footbridges, drainage, sewerage, waterworks, sewage and salt water pumping stations, fresh water and salt water service reservoirs, and flood protection measures; Provision of new cycle tracks connection to the existing cycle track network; Revitalization of the channelized portion of Tung Chung Stream and provision of a river park; Landscaping, reprovisioning and ancillary works; and Environmental mitigation measures including noise barriers for the works mentioned in (i) to (vi) above. Salt Water Supply System (Contract No. NL/2020/02), Major Infrastructure Works in Tung Chung East (Contract No. NL/2020/03), Siu Ho Wan Fresh Water Service Reservoir and Associated Mainlaying Works (Contract No. NL/2020/04), Site Formation and Infrastructure Works at Ma Wan Chung (Contract No. NL/2020/05), Site Formation and Infrastructure Works at Tung Chung Valley, Phase 1 (Contract No. NL/2020/06), Tai Ho Interchange (Contract No. NL/2020/07), Infrastructure Works at Tung Chung Valley, Yu Tung Road and Ma Wan Chung (Contract No. NL/2023/10), Infrastructure Works at Tung Chung Valley, Phase 2 (Contract No. NL/2023/11), Open Space Development in TCNTE (East),  Phase 1 (Contract No. NL/2023/13) and Infrastructure Works at Ying Hei Road and Tung Chung Waterfront Road (Contract No. NL/2025/09) are in progress. Contract: Contract No. NL/2017/03 Scope: The contract mainly comprises reclamation of the seabed at Tung Chung East by non-dredging methods to form a total of about 130 hectares of land; construction of seawalls with eco-shorelines; construction of a multi-cell drainage box culvert; provision of infrastructure for Tung Chung Area 58; and implementation of the associated environmental mitigation measures. Commencement Date: 29 December 2017 Completion Date: 10 January 2023 Awarded Sum: $12,076 million Contractor: Build King-SCT Joint Venture Contract No. NL/2020/02 Scope: The contract mainly comprises construction of Tung Chung Salt Water Pumping Station and Salt Water Service Reservoir, laying of salt watermains and fresh watermains and compensatory woodland planting. Commencement Date: 21 June 2021 Completion Date: 2026 Awarded Sum: $351 million Contractor: China Geo-Engineering Corporation Contract No. NL/2020/03 Scope: The contract mai
