The competition was well received with more than 120 entries of design concepts for two footbridges at Po Chue Tam and Yim Tin in Tai O. Speaking at the ceremony, the Head Juror and Deputy Director of Architectural Services, Mr Stephen Tang, said, "The jury is impressed by the high quality of the winning entries, in particular their innovativeness. The designs are not only functional but also practicable and invaluably blend well with the surrounding environment as well as the unique traditions of Tai O." The Acting Project Manager (Hong Kong Island & Islands) of the CEDD, Mr Bosco Chan, said that, upon completion, the footbridges at Po Chue Tam and Yim Tin will relieve the crowdedness in the central area of Tai O and improve the connectivity within the township for the benefit of local residents and visitors. Officiating guests at the ceremony today included the Chairman of the Tai O Rural Committee, Mr Lee Chi-fung, one of the jurors and member of the Islands District Council, Mr Randy Yu, and the District Officer (Islands), Mr Anthony Li. A roving exhibition of the winning entries will be held from April 26 to June 14 as shown below. Admission is free.
