The Civil Engineering and Development Department today (July 9) signed a $152.8 million contract with China Harbour Engineering Company Limited for phase one improvement works at Mui Wo.
The works mainly cover the construction of a Waterfront Promenade with a cycle track along the waterfront between Mui Wo Cooked Food Market and River Silver, the Civic Square near Mui Wo old town with associated recreational and leisure areas and a performance venue, seven amenity areas in villages at Mui Wo and additional signage at appropriate locations. The works are scheduled for completion by end-2016.
The improvement works at Mui Wo seek to enhance road safety, improve the environment of the town centre and provide better recreational facilities, thereby enhancing the quality of living and tourism attractiveness there.
