CEDD signs contract for Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel main tunnel and associated works (with photos) CEDD signs contract for Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel main tunnel and associated works (with photos) ********************************************************** The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (July 11) signed a contract of about $8,731 million with Leighton-China State Joint Venture for the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel main tunnel and associated works. The main objectives of the project are to provide a new tunnel in Tseung Kwan O to alleviate the traffic congestion occurring during peak hours at the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel at present and to meet the traffic demand arising from the anticipated population increase in Tseung Kwan O. The project will also improve traffic conditions in Kwun Tong district and hence cope with the future developments in the district. This contract mainly comprises the construction of the main tunnel of the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel, tunnel portal facilities and a ventilation building at Tseung Kwan O, slip roads, branch tunnels, viaducts, the Lam Tin Interchange, tunnel portal facilities, a ventilation building and an administration building at Kwun Tong, and the implementation of the associated building, civil, structural, marine, electrical and mechanical, landscaping and environmental protection and mitigation works.
